Strong Braxton Hicks, lower back pain, lightning crotch (the sudden nerve pain in the pelvis that feels like its name) — this is the week the body really starts to break down a little.

Some providers offer membrane sweeps now; some discuss induction timing. Both are real options. Patience thinning is normal. Snapping at your partner is normal. Apologizing later is also normal.

✦ Membrane sweep can sometimes start labor. Ask your provider about the pros and cons specifically for your situation — it's not for everyone.
✦ Walking is the labor-starter with the most evidence behind it. Spicy food and the rest of the old wives' tales mostly don't work, but mostly won't hurt.
✦ If you're being induced, ask exactly what to expect — timing, medications, pain management options. Knowing the plan reduces fear.
