About 7% of pregnancies develop gestational diabetes — controllable with diet, sometimes with medication, almost always temporary. If yours comes back high, your provider will walk you through next steps. It's not your fault. It happens to people who eat well, who exercise, who do everything "right."

✦ If you fail the 1-hour test, you'll be sent for a 3-hour. Bring a book. Eat a real meal beforehand.
✦ Sign up for a prenatal/childbirth class if you haven't. Hospital, community, online — whichever you'll actually finish.
✦ Hemorrhoids are common from week 25 on, thanks to pressure on veins. Don't strain. Drink water. There's no need to suffer in silence — pharmacist or provider can help.
